a Summer Afternoon on Hengistbury Head
Hengistbury Head is a beautiful, wild headland, to the east of Bournemouth town. Its diverse habitats are home to over 500 plant species, 300 types of birds, a superb variety of insects, reptiles and small mammals.
We might spot stonechats, stag beetles, skylarks, sand lizards and even natterjack toads- one of the UK's rarest amphibians.
Join us to discover and discuss ideas of queer nature together on a relaxed summer afternoon stroll.
- Visit the beautiful, rare coastal habitats to learn about rare insects, amphibians and reptiles
- Led by artist-ecologist and queer naturalist, Daniel Baker-Wells, with Julia from the Queer Book Club
- Plus a cafe pit-stop for tea & cake (provided courtesy of the Queer Nature Club)

- Hengistbury Visitor Centre has gender neutral toilets

Tickets are on a ‘Pay What You Can’ basis, plus a small booking fee to Outsavvy. Limited free tickets also available. All proceeds go towards keeping the Club running and offering more events.

QUEER NATURE CLUB SOUTH WEST is a community of folks (LGBTQIA+ & allies) who are interested in exploring ideas of queer nature and going on walks or expeditions together to local landscapes and nature reserves in the Southwest of England.
Activities are queer affirming and queer-led, the programme is designed to be as open and accessible as possible. The majority of our events are fully-wheelchair accessible, but in 2026 we are also programming some longer hikes.
In 2024-5 we made a zine together.
In Summer 2026 we’ll be making a banner together- for pride parades later in the year and 2027.
