Sarah Kane is one of my most beloved playwrights, and I’m so excited that we can go and see this new production of Cleansed with an exclusive promo code offered by the Almeida Theatre.
Set inside a brutal institution where love is treated as weakness, Cleansed follows a group of people fighting to remain human under violent control. Sarah Kane pushes theatre beyond realism, using impossible images, transformed bodies and fierce tenderness to make invisible pain visible.
This is not violence for spectacle, but a radical examination of what power does to bodies, desire and care. Love, grief and longing become forms of resistance in a world determined to discipline them.
Formally daring and emotionally devastating, Cleansed asks what survives when everything is stripped away, and whether our need for one another can endure.
