Part of Bring It to the Kitchen Table, a new conversation series presented by UK Black Pride in collaboration with Bleecker, this event creates space for honest dialogue around asylum, justice, belonging, and collective care.
Black LGBTQIA+ people seeking sanctuary often face multiple layers of discrimination and systemic barriers while navigating the asylum process. This discussion will centre lived experience, highlighting the resilience of those seeking safety, the importance of community support, and the work that remains to build a more just, compassionate, and humane asylum system.
The session will be joined by panellist Bandy Kiki (Activist / Doctoral Researcher), Aderonke Apata (African Rainbow Family ) and Richard Attendet (Micro Rainbow). Hosted by Moud Goba, UK Black Pride Trustee and Micro Rainbow National Director. The conversation will explore what true belonging looks like, how communities can stand in solidarity with those seeking refuge, and why protecting the rights and dignity of Black LGBTQIA+ asylum seekers is more important than ever.
There will aso be an opening welcome from Lady Phyll, Co Founder and CEO of UK Black Pride.
