After a short hiatus, our London-based beginner-friendly open sessions are back, with the next one scheduled for Saturday 5 September from 3pm in Kennington.
These sessions are suitable for absolutely anyone, so if you've never touched a netball before, or you're an international superstar who wants a friendly run around in a non-competitive environment, you can sign up!
Unicorns is a multi award-winning grassroots netball club for all genders, so if you're a queer or genderqueer person with historical trauma from PE at school, fear not. These sessions are designed for you!
The venue is a fenced off area in a park near Oval tube station, and there are changing facilities on-site, although we recommend coming dressed ready to play in sportswear and footwear for a sport that involves a lot of complex movements (tennis, handball, basketball, and some running trainers are all good for this)!
The session will be led by a Level 3 Coach, Daxa (She/Her), and supported by James (He/They) who is the Club Founder, and will start with introductions and a short warm up, followed by skills and drills. The last hour or so will be matchplay to put those skills to the test.
We will have an optional post-session social at a queer-friendly venue nearby.
If this will be your first open session with us, please drop us a DM on Instagram and we can register you for free! Please note that no-shows are treated as attendance, and no additional free sessions will be offered. If you cancel at least 24 hours before the session, then you will be able to use your free one in future instead.
We’re setting aside 5 of our 25 places for people on a lower income. We trust our community to claim these Pay What You Can places honestly, so they can go to those who need them most.
