GRIT // 03 Multi Story, Peckham Levels — 06 August
GRIT is an event for FLINTA people making or curious about experimental, noise, heavy electronics, and industrial music. We exist to build a community that's beginner-friendly, non-hierarchical, and welcoming — for people who love difficult sound.
7–8pm — Mixer - Come early, meet people, have a cuppa. Bring gear if you want to talk it through with others, or just come for a chat. Sign up for the showcase now or later if you feel comfortable.
8–9pm — Workshop — Live Looping & Sample Manipulation (in Ableton live & with Hardware).
Infernal Hag (it/its) has been lured from its mushroom swamp by the lore of GRIT, and we are THRILLED. It has told us that it wants to share its experience, insight and knowledge when it comes to incredibly heavy, intense and hypnotising live sets - and we are happy to facilitate that.
This workshop will go into how Infernal Hag organises live sets, how it uses Ableton live (DAW) as a looper and sample manipulator, effect chains, and how external hardware and instruments can be used to further shape sound. We will also be discussing identity, alter-egos, general performance tips, and the philosophical side of performing 'music'.
This will be beginner friendly, but it will include some depth too.
9.15–10.30pm — Showcase (four slots available) - Wanna jam with some new pals? Bring a track, run part of a live set with sound and tech support on hand, or share whatever you're working on. Feedback available if you want it.
