Cyber Sundays Neighbourhood Walks!
Technology continues to transform our lives, yet so much of the infrastructure that enables this technology is hidden in plain sight. Gather with us on a technology walk in Tower Hamlets, so we can demystify the digital systems that are impacting our daily lives and learn from each other how to resist the harmful impacts of technology on our communities.

Walk #1 - 23 August 1-4PM: Surveillance infrastructure with Yuna Chang (Movement Research Unit)
Modern surveillance is designed to feel inescapable and inevitable: we've all felt powerless in its gaze. But by understanding the technologies and systems that underpin surveillance in the city, we can start to organise for a different reality. Together we will map the surveillance infrastructure of and around Brick Lane, to understand how hypercapitalist surveillance technology is changing our neighbourhoods, and how we could organise society differently to provide true safety for our communities.
We will learn about the specific technologies that are used in our area, including who supplies it, who benefits from it, and who is targeted by it. We'll document the uneven impact it is having on our communities, and envision alternative, abolitionist presents & futures that keep our communities safe.
1-1:30PM Intro: we will convene at and set off on the walk from House of Annetta, located at: 25 Princelet St, London, E1 6QH
1:30-3PM Walk around the area with activities and discussions like learning to identify the surveillance tools around us (Cameras, Ring doorbells, smart meters, ANPR for traffic monitoring etc.)
3-4PM Communal map making, debrief & social
⚠︎ Spaces are limited and we would love for tickets to go to those primarily impacted by the violence of gentrification and rampant surveillance of Tower Hamlet's streets. This includes migrants, racialised people, Muslim communities, young people, women, queer and trans people & those traditionally excluded from conversations around tech and the city. The walks have been designed to be family friendly, we encourage you to join with your children!
-`♡´-These tech walks are part of a broader programme of work for Multitudes Coop: we are launching a new community tech (un)school in October 2026, guided by the principles of Black Feminism, disability justice, cooperativism, and radical tech justice.

We will have some breaks to sit down during the walk.
The walk will be step-free with the caveat that some small detours will have to be made in case of obstructions on the pavement.
House of Annetta is not wheelchair accessible. We do have a portable metal access ramp for use for the front entrance, from the street to the ground floor, that can allow a wheelchair to enter. Front door/entrance: 84cm, opening inwards. 20cm step up from street to ground floor level. Back door into the garden where we will convene: 80cm, double doors opening outwards.
There is only one outdoor all-gender toilet on site located in the garden. The toilet is not wheelchair accessible. The nearest accessible toilet is at Old Spitalfields Market, opposite the Flying Tiger Shop on the ground floor, approximately 240m from House of Annetta.
