Black Sands R&D Workshop Performance
Black Sands is the debut play by Ghanaian-British writer Freda. It is an original sci-fi Ghanaian love story that spans 300 years—from the 1800s Ashanti Empire to futuristic Britain, a love story between Ashanti Chief’s nephew, who is next in line for the throne, named Kwesi, and his childhood love, the royal seamstress named Ama. After a hostile invasion of their home, Kwesi bends all of space and time to search for her, but finds that not all love stories are romances…
For the past four years, Freda has written, rewritten and work-shopped Black Sands. This R&D performance is a key step in the play's development and Phase 1 in the journey to produce it. So we warmly welcome your thoughts at the post-show discussion. And most importantly, enjoy the show!
