As we get older, our friendships and social circles can change. People move, relationships end, priorities shift, and sometimes the people we once felt closest to are no longer around. We may also have less time, due to work commitments or caring duties for elders.
But who do we turn to when we need support, a laugh, a night out or simply someone who gets us?
In this Forty & Beyond session, we’ll explore friendship, community and the importance of having people in our corner. We’ll talk about making and maintaining friendships after 40, chosen family, managing loneliness and what helps us feel genuinely connected.

About Forty & Beyond Group
Forty and Beyond is an online peer-support community group for gay, bi and trans men aged 40 and over. We’re here to discuss and look beyond the issues that can keep us isolated and disconnected as we get older. This includes:
- Beyond loneliness and isolation
- Beyond empty connections
- Beyond shame and stigma
- Beyond highs and comedowns
- Beyond the fear of intimacy
- Beyond not feeling good enough
- And much more.
- We meet the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month 6-8pm (time may vary)
- Please try to arrive 5 minutes early. The Zoom room closes at 6.10pm.
