SCREENING ONE - Potluck + post screening discussion with Invited artists
5.30-7pm
Potluck is a shared screening where artists were invited to bring a screendance film of their own choice. Like a potluck meal, each artist brings something different to the table, creating a varied collection of films, styles, approaches and ways of working with movement and screen. Together, the films reflect the richness and diversity of screendance and the breadth of creativity across Scotland — from different dance practices and artistic perspectives to experimental approaches to film. The screening will be followed by a discussion with the artists, offering an opportunity to hear more about their work, processes and ideas, and to open up a conversation around screendance. Curated by Lewis Landini.

SCREENING TWO - SHIFTING LOOP + post screening discussion with Katrina McPherson
7.30-9pm
Katrina presents a selection of films that she has directed between 1992 and 2022. The selection offers a perspective of the evolution of Katrina’s practice and includes seldom-screened films alongside award-winning works.
The focus of Katrina’s curation is her curiosity in how the accumulation of images might alter our perception of space and time, propelling us toward the future of the work and offering reflection on place and position. Each work is situated in a various rural and urban landscape, mostly in Scotland, and arises from collaboration with many different dancers, choreographers, artists and technicians. This new juxtaposition of films, selected by Katrina especially for the Kinetic Festival, speaks to the idea that the meaning of art is altered though its repeated and ever shifting connection with and reception by audiences and perhaps this is a perspective that can be offered as a new way of seeing the works today.
KINETIC
KINETIC is a new screendance platform rooted in Glasgow, founded by dance artists and filmmakers Monika Smekot and Lewis Landini. It brings together artists working across movement and screen, creating a space to experience, share and discuss screendance on its own terms. KINETIC celebrates screendance from Scotland and beyond, exploring the space between dance, film and live performance, and creating opportunities for artists and audiences to connect, exchange ideas and experience new work.
