Join Queer Nature Club for a walk with Yeovil Parks to encounter the wonderful local bats at Ninesprings Park, Yeovil.
The park is home to up to nine species of bats, including pipistrelles, long-eared bats, and the Barbastelle bat (one of the rarest in Somerset).
We'll be led by a knowledgeable local ranger, and be able to listen to the bats through special listening devices as they hunt at night using echolocation.
Join us to encounter some of these elusive, quietly charming and beautiful creatures.

As this event is in an area that isn't fully accessible, we will endeavour to record our experiences, the sights & sounds, and share with other local Club members at a further creative event, so everyone can benefit.
Who is it for?
This walk is for the LGBTQIA+ community, friends and allies, and anyone interested in exploring and connecting with nature through a ‘queer’ perspective.
Accessibility & terrain
Accessibility is at the heart of what we do, and the majority of Queer Nature Club events & activities are fully wheelchair accessible but unfortunately it is much less likely to see or hear bats on the accessible paths of Ninesprings Park so we will walk through some of the higher, more secluded areas of Ninesprings Park together as a group, where its dark and a variety of bats are likely to be active.
The walk will follow well-used routes, but includes some steeper paths. There will be stopping places for rest.
Unfortunately, the route is not suitable for wheelchair users or people with limited mobility. As this event is in an area that isn't fully accessible, we will endeavour to record our experiences, the sights & sounds, and share with other local Club members at a further creative event, so everyone can benefit.

Queer Nature Club South West is an LGBTQIA+ collective in South West England exploring nature together.
