Older Queer Voices returns for our third roundtable, bringing generations together to explore HIV, ageing and what both mean for our LGBTQ+ community today and in the future.
For some, HIV is lived experience. For others, it is part of a history they lived through, through people they loved, supported, cared for or lost. For younger generations, the experience of HIV can be very different, shaped by extraordinary advances in treatment and prevention.
But what happens as people living with HIV grow older? Are our health and care systems, housing, financial support and communities prepared? What about stigma, isolation, relationships and quality of life? And importantly, what needs to change?
We will hear provocations and lived experiences from people bringing different perspectives into the room. These will open up a wider roundtable conversation about the challenges faced by LGBTQ+ people ageing with HIV, what we can learn across generations, and the action we want to see from government and other decision-makers.
Come and listen. Come and learn. Come and share your perspective.
You do not need to be living with HIV to be part of this conversation. You may have supported or cared for someone, worked in this area, lived through the AIDS crisis, be part of a younger generation wanting to understand more, or simply believe this is a conversation our community needs to have.
As with all Older Queer Voices roundtables, this will be an inclusive and multi-generational space, because conversations about ageing need to involve all of us.
