Liverpool Queer Collective's Storytelling Event "Telling Tales" Is Back
And this time the theme is Electric Dreams
You’re invited to a special storytelling event where local people will share their stories from an LGBTQ+ perspective, on Friday 21 February 2019 at The Bagelry, Liverpool.
When the Internet exploded in the 1990s LGBTQ+ people were at the forefront of the revolution, making friends, dating, playing and exploring on the World Wide Web. The Internet was a new space where people could connect with their community wherever they were. LGBTQ+ people could explore their boundaries and be free from the necessity to conform to the gender of their bodies.
Nearly 30 years on – what does the internet now mean to LGBTQ+ people and the lives we are living.
Our hope is that by sharing our stories we can show solidarity and help each other to learn from our experiences.
This is conversational storytelling, the people speaking are ‘real people’ telling ‘real’ stories about their lives and the majority will not be professional speakers or performers.
You can buy food and drinks from the Bagelry from 6pm and the event will take place from 7pm until 9pm.
The event will include musical entertainment from our house band The Ukuleighties.
Due to the nature of the theme attendees must be age 16+.
This event is a pay what you can and we suggest a minimum of £5 per ticket for this fab evening of entertainment in an amazing queer-friendly environment. Liverpool Queer Collective does not receive funding to run these events and all of our work is led by volunteers. Please help us to continue our work by giving what you're able to. Thank you x
Booking is essential.
