Join us for our October hike where we'll be heading to Simon's Seat in the Yorkshire Dales! 🥾This is a circular 15km route with around 500m of elevation. Expect picturesque Dales scenery and impressive views over Wharfedale.
About the Hike
This is a moderately challenging hike so you'll need a good level of experience with hills, and be comfortable with walking a fair distance. We will be climbing up through some classic Dales moorland to Simon's Seat, before following the River Wharfe past The Strid all the way back to the Cavendish Pavillion, to reward ourselves with tea and cake!
The hike will take us roughly 4.5 hours, and as always we'll stop somewhere for lunch along the way. Good hiking footwear and appropriate outdoor equipment/clothing are essential for this hike. Make sure you've got sun protection, waterproofs, layers and plenty of food and water for the day.
Where to Meet
This time we'll be doing things a little differently to get to the hike as it is not accessible by public transport. Instead, we will be organising lift sharing, with a few extra tickets to give those with cars an option to make their own way there.
Therefore, our tickets will operate slightly differently this time too. Aside from the “make your own way” tickets, each ticket will cost £5.50. This covers the cost of fuel for the drive to and from the hike, and the fee for the car park.
There will be three options of tickets:
Option 1: Driver/Leader ticket (£5.50) - please only buy this ticket if you have specifically been instructed to do so by one of our leaders.
Option 2: Member needing car space (£5.50) - please buy this ticket if you would like a space in a car to get to and from the hike. To make it easier for our drivers, we will all be meeting at the location below, with a leaving time of 9:30. If you're not there by 9:30 we'll have to leave without you! Please only buy this ticket if you are able to make your own way to the meeting point listed below:
