☠️A New Play by Hui Chen & Nadja Marthall🍊
☠️Welcome to My Death is a transdisciplinary solo performance exploring our collective relationship with mortality — from physical decay to spiritual rebirth. Blending movement, storytelling, digital imagery, audience interaction, personal stories and rituals, it invites the audience to hold death not as tragedy, but as teacher — a mirror through which we rediscover how to live.
🍊🍊Ivee, a playful, curious orchardist tending a tangerine orchard, invites the audience to their joyful death party — a living funeral sparked by a fortune-teller’s prediction of their end.
Through movement, storytelling, digital imagery, audience interaction, personal stories and rituals, guests journey with Ivee across an ever-shifting inner landscape of fear, mirth, grief, and wonder, gradually opening toward a gentle acceptance of both life and death.
The journey spirals with tangerines weaving through — as fruit, as offering, as symbol — revealing themselves to be far more than they first appear. But as Ivee is finally laid to rest and suddenly breathe again, a quiet truth slips through: this is not the first time Ivee has died… and it may not be the last.
