Our October Chill Hike for queer folks of colour and queer migrants will be gentle walk through Chess Valley!
This is a a beautiful 11 mile linear walk with some very gentle ascents and descents taking in some of the best parts of the Chiltern Hills, and if you've ever wanted to see what lies around that far northwestern corner on the tube map where the Metropolitan Line ends, now's your chance to come find out!
The paths are well-maintained but can be wet and boggy in places, and the trailheads are accessible and easy to find, with amenities at the start and finish. If you're looking for a chance to go on a gentle walk and meet some new QPoC or queer migrant friends, this is your chance!
We've rated the difficulty of this hike at Two Boots, meaning it's broadly flat and easy going, with a couple of sections that go uphill that you might want to take slowly! However the rest of the trail is very gentle, with lots of beautiful woodland and meadows to walk through.

About Queer Routes:
We’re a group of queer migrants and queer folks of colour who’ve gotten together to bring you Queer Routes, a brand new group offering small-group hikes for QTIPoC and queer migrants based in or around London.
Our hikes are all about building community, meeting new people, learning from each other, and connecting with the land around us. With smaller groups, we’re aiming to give you the chance to have deeper conversations, and to create lasting and more meaningful connections.
Challenge vs. Chill Hikes
Chill Hikes will offer a lighter day out, with a focus on easier trails that offer a gentle challenge and a more social experience. This means they’ll involve relatively flat ground with fewer ascents and descents, easier terrain, and will require less time (around 1-4 hours) to complete.
Challenge Hikes will offer greater difficulty, with a focus on routes that may be much harder, but will also give us a real sense of achievement. This means they’ll involve steeper ground, rougher terrain, and will require more time (4-8 hours) to complete, but you’ll be supported at all times by our incredible team.
