In this workshop, we will collectively make seed balls using seeds native to the region. A seed ball is a small ball made of soil, clay, and compost that contains seeds inside. It can be placed on any piece of land to regenerate deforested or degraded areas. We will also apply the Water Observation Guide to stimulate questions that invite us to revitalize the emotional and ecological memory of water. The workshop is free and open to the public.
The session will include time for an open conversation where participants can share their views on the issues the project addresses. What emerges from the workshop will become part of the two performances Valentina Kappes will present at Fierce Jams on Friday 16 October.
This activity takes place within the framework of the Río del Cielo tour to Fierce Festival, a project funded by the Fondo Nacional de Fomento y Desarrollo de las Artes Escénicas, Convocatoria 2026, of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage of Chile.
About the artist
Valentina Kappes (she/her) is a queer artist, dancer and teacher. Independently trained, her work as a performance maker explores radical imagination, collective ways of inhabiting the world, and the archive. As a teacher she shares participatory and undisciplined methodologies, encouraging overlaps between body, graphics and dance. Interested in working with communities, she has built strong territorial ties in the south of Chile through the Centro de Experimentación Escénica de Valdivia. She currently works from the south, combining cultural management with collaborative creation. She is part of the dissident duo Las Especulativas and an active member of the cultural cooperative Exploratorio de artes y oficios.
