Bizarro Presents: We're All Going To The World's Fair. Tuesday November 10th - 7pm. Downstairs at the Bee's Mouth.
Following our riotous inaugural screening, Bizarro ventures further into the uncanny and strange, inviting you down the rabbit hole into the liminal depths of cyberspace. Here, you'll find a cult classic by a master of contemporary queer cinema, We're All Going To The World's Fair, Jane Schoenbrun's deeply unsettling debut feature.
Prior to I Saw The TV Glow and Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, this glacial, ambient character study chronicles the adolescence of Casey, a young girl searching for herself in the pixelated depths of reddit threads, youtube ARGs and creepypastas. Led by a heartwrenching performance by Anna Cobb, World's Fair ruminates on the dysphoric anxieties of a generation socialised on screens, digitality and horror melding in the glow of a laptop screen, as a new folklore is birthed.
As always, anticipate surprises, as the boundaries between cinema and reality dissolve in the basement of the Bee's Mouth.
WE'VE BEEN THERE, YOU'RE COMING TOO.
For this edition of Bizarro, we are also joined by independent magazine The Film Pupil, sharing cutting-edge film criticism. For an additional £2.50, attendees can secure a copy of The Film Pupil alongside their ticket, or pick one up on the night.
