In this generative workshop, we'll elaborates on hesitation, precarity, and the boundary between knowing and unknowing as strategies for compelling composition. You will be invited to draw from a generous range of methods that invite the lush, ordinary, otherworldly, and vibrant materials of your world into the imagination of poetry. Come prepared to sense, write, and wonder.
Canisia Lubrin is a poet, writer, editor and professor. The author of Bright Machine (2026), The World After Rain: Anne’s Poem, Code Noir, The Dyzgraphxst, and Voodoo Hypothesis, Lubrin is the recipient of a Windham-Campbell Literature Prize, OCM Bocas Prize for Caribbean Literature, Griffin Poetry Prize, Derek Walcott Prize, Carol Shields Prize for Fiction, and Danuta Gleed Award, among other distinctions. She was born in St. Lucia and lives in Whitby. She loves trees.
