Whose City? Data Centres, Housing and the Fight for East London
Across London, public space and resources are being lost to gentrification, unaffordable developments and the destructive whims of capital. While the housing crisis intensifies, key land on Brick Lane is being handed over to data centres, built to help the bankers of Canary Wharf make more profit rather than to serve the local community. How do we organise to reclaim our city?
Join us for this public event, where speakers from local campaigns including Save Brick Lane and the London Renters Union will talk alongside researchers and activists to discuss the issues facing East London today, and the kind of mobilisation and organisation we need to fight back and win. After the talks, we’ll break into borough groups to map the struggles, campaigns and data centres in our area.
