This month to mark The Chateau's 2nd Birthday, we have partnered with Southwark LGBT Network to present a mini-series of online events, workshops, live sessions and parties celebrating queer culture and community in SE London. We've assembled a group of people we love and respect to bring YOU one week of shimmering queer happenings right to your living room, all in aid of two incredible causes - METRO Charity and UK QTIBIPOC Hardship Fund.
A digital guide for allies in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
The Chateau stands in total solidarity with BLACK LIVES MATTER, and with the Black queer and trans community in fighting the systemic racism that plagues our society. As part of our commitment to educating ourselves and the community around us we have invited artist, activist and facilitator Kamari Roméo, artistic director of Humblebee Creative to deliver "A Webinar Guide to Anti-Racism" as part of our CHATEAU ONLINE series.
Join British artist-activist Kamari Roméo on an open journey to solidarity between the Black community and White, Asian and Multiracial Allies. The session will cover:
- "I understand my privilege...what now?"
- How to do the research
- A seat at the table- sensitively handing down space and opportunities
- When it is and is not appropriate to hold space
- How to practice self care when experiencing burnout
This is a safe, non confrontational space for allies who acknowledge the damaging impact of racism against the black community and want to make a long term commitment to equality through their personal, creative or business model. The session magnifies the conversation around black women, LGBTQ and disabled lives.
Places are strictly limited to 30. Tickets are FREE or Pay What U Can/Donation, with all proceeds going to Metro Charity and UK QTIBIPOC Hardship Fund. If you are having issues reserving a place, or have reserved but can no longer attend please email laurie@thechateau.org.uk. Zoom links will be emailed to ticket holders prior to the event.
