Do you have a story to tell?
We are looking for LGBTQ+ people from the Liverpool City Region who are interested in developing their storytelling skills to join us for a free online conversational storytelling workshop on the theme of Let’s Get Physical.
Telling Tales is Liverpool Queer Collective's regular storytelling event, bringing the community together to listen, share and connect. We usually hold Telling Tales a few times a year as an intimate, in-person, evening event. During lockdown, we're taking the opportunity to help develop your storytelling skills with an online workshop.
Every Telling Tales event has a different theme and this time it is...
Let's Get Physical
LGBTQ+ experience of sport can be very different to that of straight people. Love it or hate it queer people are often marginalised by the narrow gender boundaries presented by sport and the changing room culture, which can often present excitement, awkwardness and fear, in equal measure.
Through this workshop we want you to develop your stories of experiences of sport and physical activity.
Led by Dr Stephe Harrop, an expert in storytelling and spoken-word performance, the workshops will offer you the opportunity to learn techniques for developing and delivering your story. You’ll discover how to use your voice safely, how to select and structure narrative elements, and how sharing personal stories can aim to create positive change among a wider community. You will also have the opportunity to submit your story to be included at a future Telling Tales storytelling event.
Places are limited to only eight people to ensure that you can get the most out of the experience. Booking is essential, please inform us within 24 hours of the event if you are not able to attend.
