It’s very easy to look at others social media feeds, to see only completed projects without the work that goes into them, and compare them to our own “works-in progress”. Especially currently in lockdown we have less access to creative social groups where we would be able to work on things in a shared progressive space.
We want to focus on the idea that nothing you make has to be perfect or permanent, and imperfect stuff is actually pretty cool anyway; as pieces 'imperfections' are often what draws people to it. What you as a creator might see as unfinished or not smoothed out could actually be the thing that people like about it.
About the artist:
Unfinished Art Collective is a space for people to collaborate and share unfinished artworks and ideas, and break free from the idea that all art making is about producing a perfect final product.
This project started as a response to our own struggles with finishing works, especially at the moment when it can be even harder to follow through with projects while coping with the stresses of the pandemic.
Instead we are now focusing on the incomplete and using this to create a community to share, respond and collaborate on creations.
