"Breaking Barriers is the brainchild of founder Matthew Powell. While completing his Masters degree at the London School of Economics, he realised how little support was available to help refugees integrate into society and spotted an opportunity for the private sector to play an important role. His innovative model challenges the charity status quo, harnessing the power of the private sector to unlock the vast potential of the refugees who arrive in the UK, bringing positive impacts to individuals and businesses alike. He was recognised by Forbes 30 under 30 as one of Europe's leading social entrepreneurs for his sustainable, scalable and business-led model.
Breaking Barriers has subsequently grown to a 40-strong team supporting over 1,300 refugees in London through partnerships, education courses, and bespoke advice, guidance and training. This year, they will be expanding operations outside of London for the first time and have recently launched Fuse - a network of businesses across the country committed to improving employment opportunities for refugees. Matthew and Head of Philanthropy, Andrew Fordham, will share learnings on how businesses and individuals can forge meaningful partnerships that lead to employment and integration for refugees, and benefit businesses through increased retention and improved diversity and inclusion."
The presentation will be followed by a Q & A session.
After this, all participants have the opportunity to introduce themselves briefly after the talk. Like "Hi, I am J-F and organise events, let me know if you need help with any forthcoming celebration, meeting, incentive, conference and event."
