Friday 15th September marks the inauguration of the Men of Colour Society in Camden. The Men Of Colour (MOC) Society brings together queer people of colour (QPOC) who identify as male and their friends for a night of partying, networking and all clean fun. The club night will be held at the newly founded "Them Downstairs" attached to the amazing "Her Upstairs", a diverse venue that is also home to the very special POC cabaret night "The Cocoa Butter Club" which is already helping to change the landscape of Camden’s clubland.
The night brings with it the best POC DJs around, with the opportunity to raise the profile of emerging DJs with a ‘USB Hour’ where new talent can have a platform in an inclusive and supportive space. The line-up for the first night includes many who have already been involved with founder Jay Jay Revlon’s established club nights LDN Ballroom (Voguing) English Breakfast London (London Ballroom Scene Hub).
DJs:
9PM - 10PM : Jay Jay Revlon
10PM - 11PM : Slim Jones
11PM - 12AM : Remi Burgz
12AM - 1AM : DamnShaq
1AM - 2AM : Jay Jay Revlon
2AM - 3AM : USB HOUR
What is the Men of Colour Society?
Founder Jay Jay Revlon says: “The Men of Colour Society is a male focussed night for QPOC where we can invite our friends to an inclusive space, built on a foundation of tunes from the best DJs in London. A celebration of masculinity and a rejection of hypermasculinity at the same time. We intend to make this night somewhere where QMOC can come for music, connection and community. We wanna hear from you as a QMOC about what’s going on, what challenges you’re facing and the true power of what we can do when we come together”
To achieve that community the MOC Society will be enforcing these rules:
No homophobia
No racism
No transphobia
No femphobia
No hypermasculinity
No fatphobia
No body-shaming
