Queer Craft is heading South London, to the Feminist Library in Peckham!
This social will be held in the Library Hall, which is currently home to exhibition ‘No Loose Strands', a celebration of rich tapestry of radical textile art, exploring gender, political protest and community. The exhibition includes community made quilts, protest banners and embroidered pieces as well as books, zines and journals from the Library’s collection.
You can bring and work on your own current project - or if you wish to make work inspired by the exhibition, you are welcome to use patches of material, and needles and fabric glue, scissors, etc kindly provided by the Feminist Library. You could make a piece to contribute to become part of the community effort to decorate Feminist Library's new fabric bookshelf covers!
Queer Craft socials are open to all LGBTQA+ who enjoy crafting in all its many forms! We will welcome anyone who identifies under the broad queer and trans umbrellas and has an interest in all things craft, whether you're dabbling for the first time or a big time crafter. The space will be closed to the public, open only for our community to take up space, to craft, explore the exhibition and enjoy the refreshments kindly provided by The Feminist Library!
We have reusable name and pronoun badges to help us skip introductions if we’re feeling a little nervous, and saves any pressure of having to remember the names of new people!
The hall is wheelchair accessible and there is an accessible gender neutral toilet just by the hall.
