Maylene Chou, an artist and illustrator working in Wimbledon, London, uses loose brushstrokes and rich textures to explore diaspora identity and loneliness through quirky urban creatures. With a background in political science and historical research, she has refined her art at the Art Academy London and the Royal Drawing School. Soon, she will begin an MA in Children's Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art, Anglia Ruskin University. She lives with her husband and three cats in Croydon.
At her Wimbledon studio, she organises and facilitates art workshops of various kinds, sometimes in collaboration with friends from disciplines beyond art: history, politics, computer science, and more! These workshops provide wonderful opportunities to broaden your horizons in creative practice.
