Initially called "The Hoose," Oor Hoose was founded by Jordan Nichol in August 2022. The aim, initially, was to give local drag artists a platform in Dumfries and Galloway to share upcoming opportunities for potential bookings. From there, Hoose went on to become a showcase event at The Stove Café in collaboration with The Stove Network in Dumfries, and involved performing artists from across multiple artistic disciplines including drag, stand-up comedy and poetry.
In July 2023, with local creative practitioner Dillon Colthart joining the team, Oor Hoose constituted as a community interest company. Our plan plan moving forward is simple. We aim to give people the tools and support to thrive as creative practitioners in rural communities.
