Lauren and lilli work together as doulas on several projects that support women and queer people through the perinatal year and into family life.
Kinhood - lilli started Kinhood with other queer doulas a number of years ago; it now has over 200 members in our Whatsapp community who support each other with skills sharing, and emotional support. There are also in-person meet-ups around London, and lots of members have made local groups. All the members are queer people who are pregnant, thinking about family-making, or who have children. There is a separate Kinhood Fertility group where all members are trying to conceive, going through fertility treatment, or thinking about their options.
Open Antenatal - we run antenatal courses that are focused on preparing people for an informed, connected birth and life with a baby. We set it up as we wanted an alternative to the normative antenatal courses. We focus on topics such as advocacy, relational transition, and informed consent through evidence-based research, activities, creative reflective exercises and discussion.
Thinking of Family-Making? - Lauren decided to create a one-stop-shop space for family-making options as somewhere that was easy to go to, relaxed, queer-led and focused.
