For Black History Month 2022, international dancer, visual artist, writer and activist Valerie
Uchechukwu Ebuwa presents Valuing Stories: a two-day exploration and celebration of the
contemporary black experience in modern living, and an invitation for people to connect with their
bodies, sit in their own and other’s stories and take a moment to elevate and celebrate the brilliance
of black culture.

Join us for the final celebration! Enjoy the prolific work of performance poet Chloe AyoDeji Filani followed by her in conversation with
Valerie Uchechukwu Ebuwa, ending with a chance to buss a wine with the till late after part feat. DJ
Malika!

Artist of Poetry, Performance Maker, Black Feminist, Public Speaker and Workshop Facilitator, Chloe AyoDeji Filani presents live performance informed by her lived experience of being a black trans woman and the broader themes of identity of power structures and finding hope in the imagination and storytelling. Chloe has performed a dance, sound piece at Late at Tate, performed poetics at ICA, HOME, Spoken
at Victoria and Albert museum UAL, Women of the world festival with BLACK LIVES MATTER, at women of the world festival. Performed and curated an art and music event for Black women cis, trans and queer. called ‘Swaying Feels wit Blk Sirens’.
Chloe AyoDeji Filani, In Conversation with Valerie Uchechukwu Ebuwa - from 8:30pm
International Dance Artist, Activist, Writer, Model and Curator of Valuing Stories, talks to Chloe AyeDeji Filani about their work and experiences, how our stories matter and dreams for the future. Valerie has is an international contemporary dancer and has performed/ collaborated with Vincent Dance Theatre, Clod Ensemble, Eddie Peake, Babel Theatre, Protein Dance, Holly Blakey, Chase and Status, Elton John, Kylie Monague, Solange, and is currently on a world tour Jamie XX.As a maker, she has choreographed and curated ValUE, a 6 month exhibition at the Siobhan Davies Dance Studios, as a multi-layered project created in order to offer multiple perspectives on the black female image. Her writing has been featured in The Stage Magazine and is a regular contributor to Iam Hip Hop magazine. Her work has been featured in Crack Magazine, i-D, Glass Magazine and TheEarth Issue.
Afterparty Feat. DJ MALIKA - from 9:00pm till late
The culmination party of Valuing Stories!South London raised DJ Malika lights it up as she spins the very best of Hip-Hop, R&B, Jersey Club,
Afro House and Old-Stool Classics.You can regularly find Malika at venues like Brixton Jamm, Roundhouse, Dalston Superstore and
Soho House to name a few.

Be prepared to buss a skank and shake a leg as she keeps you moving though out the night.
