Huysuz Virjin, in 1970, would start going on stage for the first time and her path on becoming the most iconic drag queen & entertainer of all times of Turkey until the end of the 2000s would start. Gaining nation wide recognition after she first appeared as a guest on national TV TRT (the only one at the time), she would eventually produce and host her own talk & comedy show on most popular private channels in Prime time, along with performing at various music halls in Istanbul and the rest of Turkey. Her presence on the television would slowly be erased by the backward-minded islamist government until she would no longer be allowed apart from few commercial apperances. After her passing, even now, she is still an inspiration for most of the turkish people but of course mostly for drag queens and queers, who have claimed her legacy and carry it on despite attemps to erase queer culture.
It's with this inspiration coming from her unique bantering, unapologetic, flirtatious and at times sleezy style, that we give you the newest of our themes "Huysuz Drag Brunch", the one and only Southwest Asian drag queen brunch of London, where you might get hit by a microphone to your head while attempting to bite your burger. Anything can happen, but mostly the good stuff !
your host Cazeleon will be your host for this one, joined by Darlink Dick and Tahini Molasses. Only the best of the music from Toby Kind will accompany the chat, the dedikodu and the turkish coffee cup readings. We have the great luck of being hosted at Babel Art House and the privilage of our brunch food prepared by their outstanding kitchen. Come and join us as we fill our tummies as we reminisce and have a blast for the brighter part of a saturday together.
