Then don’t miss Rock The Mic Right - a masterclass led by veteran cabaret performer, host and classically trained singer, Markee de Saw and gain valuable skills to help you command the room with confidence, mesmerise any crowd, and deal with challenges unfazed.
In this interactive workshop there will be live demonstrations and DIY activities to help you:
- Improve your spoken or singing voice with breath support and vocal placement techniques.
- Learn the basics of operating and speaking into a microphone and holding the mic like a pro.
- Build skills to host a show or do a spoken act, including tips on how to fill ‘all that time’, and the most important things to remember when introducing your fellow performers.

More About Markee:
Markee de Saw is an international cabaret performer, classically trained singer, and highly skilled musical saw player, whose roots lie in Hollywood. They have been performing cabaret for over 15 years, and hosting for 7 of those, including at sold out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Markee has shared the stage with Scottish drag king pioneer, Diane Torr, for her Drag Balls and solo shows, and has been an androgynous fixture of the Glasgow drag scene, blending both femme and masc in their vintage style cabaret performances. They have been a collaborator and mentor in Shut Up & King Free Your Inner King workshop programmes since 2021.
