Migratory trajectories and artistic practices (virtual talk)

The panel will introduce two doctoral research presentations that explore aspects of identity, sense making, mobility experiences, and (dis)empowerment of Latin American migrant youth and women in the Americas and in Europe. The authors analyze the cases of Mexico and the UK while discussing the use of creative methodologies to collaborate with migrant interlocutors. Abril Ríos will share some preliminary findings from the doctoral research digging into women migrants’ processes of empowerment and decision-making, particularly in Tapachula, Tijuana and Mexico City. Domiziana Turcatti, for her part, will share some key discoveries from her doctoral research exploring the onward migration of Colombian families from Spain to London after the 2008 crisis and before Brexit.
