CLASS DESCRIPTION
Join The Feminist Lecture Program for a short history of Iran's ancient, hidden, feminist history.
As the world's first female-led uprising continues in Iran, Kamin Mohammadi explores the role of women in the Iranian people's struggle for democracy and sovereignty throughout Iran's ancient history.
Kamin Mohammadi leads us through a tour of Iran’s hidden feminist history, from the empowered Royal women of Achaemenid Persia to the skilled craftswomen who helped build the famed Persian empire, and the female managers who kept ledgers and paid workers according to their skills. From ancient Persia all the way to the dawn of the modern age in Iran, we will meet some of the women who bust the myth that Iran’s women have always been second class citizens.
