Bijou Stories are teaming up with Beth Watson of Queer Diary-Zine to produce a Songbook Fanzine.
Swoon over your pop idols all over again as you cut and paste the fabbest zine in town. This workshop is part of Songbook, a new project to create a variety show based on the music that soundtracks queer life stories. At this workshop we will be making pages for a collaborative zine/programme for the Songbook Live event in September.
PLEASE NOTE:
- The Maritime Museum is usually fully accessible but is currently impacted by works that are taking place, therefore this workshop will not be fully accessible. The workshop will be held in the Seminar Room which is accessible only by steps.
- Entrance to the museum is currently via the Parkside entrance (next to Yinka Shonibare's Nelson's Ship in a Bottle)
- On arrival please ask at reception for directions to the Seminar Room
Songbook
Join us and share your memories of your first gay disco or favourite Pride celebration, your coming out story, a night out with friends, the music you associate with the good times, or which transports you to a memorable time and place. These songs will be used as the basis for a very special performance developed and created through a programme of fun workshops.
We will be running a programme of artist led workshops teaching participants new skills which we will be showcasing at a fabulous live event in September! Join us on this exciting journey and learn new skills, make new friends and help to tell the story of the LGBTQ+ community in a joyous celebration of music and community.
The programme will run from March until September 2024 and will feature workshops in a wide range of creative disciplines. We will be sharing details of each new workshop as it is added to the program. All workshops will be FREE and we will create a safe and friendly environment where participants will feel free and confident to share their stories. Workshops will be taking place in the Greenwich, Lewisham and Southwark boroughs of London as part of the Thames Pride Arts Festival.

Tell us the story you want to share or bring along some photographs that you are happy to share as part of the production. Get to meet some of the team and share your ideas in a relaxed social environment.
