Lil and Sara felt something was missing in the London comedy scene. They both graduated clown school, brought shows to fringe, and gigged around town, but they wanted somewhere that just felt sillier. After waiting in a very long line for very mediocre coffee, they put their heads together to create a never-before-seen type of variety-show-cabaret-clowning-extravaganza. They named their big experiment Mom’s Room: the place you go to play, dress up, and find treasures while the parents are away.
The structure?
Four alternative comedians write a brand-new comedy prompt and take turns choosing at random one of these prompts from a hat. The performer reads the prompt live on stage and performs their interpretation of the idea live! After some music and an interval, each performer then shows the act as they had meant it. It’s a night of misinterpretations, chaos, and seriously silly play. And it’s the hosts’ hope that this night will help performers generate, relax, and mostly boogey all night long.
