Join us for a creative and thought-provoking workshop in partnership with the Ahmed Iqbal Ullah RACE Centre and Southern Voices, exploring the history of the Indian subcontinent under British rule, leading up to Independence and Partition in 1947.
This workshop will offer a brief introduction to this complex and often painful history, using a range of materials to spark discussion and inspire creativity.
We will be drawing from a specially produced zine on Partition, as well as books and resources from the AIU Centre’s collection, to reflect on the legacies of colonialism and how they shape our present. Participants will be encouraged to design their own zines, using personal reflections, historical references, and creative expression to respond to the themes explored.
No prior knowledge or artistic experience is needed — this is a welcoming space for all to learn, create, and share. All materials will be provided.
Come along to uncover hidden histories and make your mark through print and design.
