Pride in Education: Supporting Safe Online Spaces for All
In response to the recent changes to Meta’s Community Standards, which now permit harmful rhetoric targeting LGBTIQA+ individuals, women, and other marginalised communities, we at Pride in Education remain committed to supporting our diverse, resilient, and vibrant community. These policy shifts not only normalise hate but also pose a serious threat to the safety, dignity, and mental wellbeing of those who depend on online spaces for identify formation, connection and support.
As part of our ongoing efforts to combat this harmful shift, we are hosting this free webinar Thriving Online as a Marginalised Person
This workshop will share a combination of strategies to highlight how the online landscape can still be used as an empowering space with the right amount of knowledge and safety in place. The workshop will cover the following areas: (a) utilising online spaces as accessible tools for community growth; (b) understanding algorithms and search histories, including how to mitigate toxic feedback loops; (c) learning about reliability of information and sources; and (d) understanding ways of self-care in an increasingly digitised world.
