What is Queer Digital Detox?
It’s a gentle, in-person space for queer people who are feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, or just bloody sick of being online all the time. These events are about slowing down, switching off, and reconnecting—with yourself, with others, and with what actually feels good.
This is for you if...
- You’re feeling frazzled, burnt out, or like your brain’s got too many tabs open
- You’ve been craving real-life queer connection that doesn’t revolve around bars, dating apps or big social energy
- You’re tired of the pressure to perform, explain yourself, or be “on” all the time
- You want to rest, create, potter, or just sit in a comfy chair without anyone asking why
- You’re trying to take a break from the endless scroll and actually give your nervous system a bit of a breather
- You miss the feeling of queer community in real life—or maybe you’ve never really had it and want to see what it could be like
Where is it?
The Queer Digital Detox is at the perfect location for no screen time! Taking place at The Lion's Den in Bishopgate - you can book in for a sauna session and a cold plunge (book separately through www.thelionsdennorwich.com), come and chill by a fire with a matcha latte (or a beer!) or just sit and watch the world go by on the river.
We’ll have a cosy, welcoming space set up with comfy seating and a mix of low-key activities like crafts, board games, and a small queer library to browse. You can bring your own project, do some colouring, or just sit and sip tea in peace. No awkward icebreakers. No expectations to be productive. No one asking what you do for work.
These sessions are a kind of group exhale—especially for queer people who are tired of online spaces that feel draining, performative, or just not made with us in mind.
You can come solo or with pals. You can chat or be quiet. You can stay the whole time or just drop in. It’s your time, your pace, your space.
When is it?
The Queer Digital Detox takes place on the last Wednesday of every month from 7.30-9.30pm
