Join us and Trans Chorus for an evening of vocal exploration, in a dedicated space for trans, gender non-conforming, and gender-questioning people to come together and revel in sound, embracing that our vocal bodies sit outside of binary expectations.
The session will be facilitated by vocalist, margomool who has been noisemaking with people who are queer, disabled and or neurodivergent for eight years.
Through chants, droning, song circles and playful vocal improv formations, Trans Chorus is rooted in embodied singing practices, which help us to connect with our internal and external systems through sensation and intuition. The main intention of the space is to support each other in building more trusting relationships with our voices and witness each other through that process.
No singing experience is required, just a willingness to listen.
For this workshop, we will be interacting with the At The Centre exhibition, vocally responding to the work to create sounds and songs. We will be moving with the intention of singing to our transcestors who have laid the paths that we walk today.
This session will take place outside of public opening times, meaning only those who have booked will be present.

Further details:
- The space will be held with the knowledge of the nuanced and changing vocal experiences of trans and gender non-conforming people, which is affected by factors such as HRT, binding and speech training. All exercises will also be facilitated with a trauma-informed practice, taking into account how singing and body work is a beautiful but vulnerable thing, and can sometimes bring emotions to the surface.
- Gentle reminder that embodied singing / bodywork can bring up emotions and feelings that can be challenging. There is no pressure to do anything in the workshop. Please participate in ways that feel safe for you, which may mean listening and opting out of moments. You may decide that this space isn't for you right now which is also valid. Here is a guide made by Healing Justice Ldn that offers tools to help you manage your energy after the workshop.
- The content of the workshop will be accessible to the sensory experiences of neurodiverse and chronically ill people as well as people with differing mobility. There is no need to be verbal in the space or to feel like you have to perform. Attendees are encouraged to move at their own pace and adapt exercise prompts to suit them. Anyone can take as many breaks as they need outside of the scheduled pauses throughout the session.
