Back with my good pals Jake and Sam at Tuck Shop, Fish Island with an early Summer menu.
I was lucky enough to spend a bit of time by the sea at the start of this year and did a lot of thinking about these supper clubs, why I love doing them and what I want them to look like this year. The most important thing to me is bringing people together to enjoy the best of what that season has to offer. I spent time thinking about how hard the world feels right now and how tight people's finances are. While I am under no illusions that a meal can fix the long list of struggles we face, I do believe that the collective joy of a dinning table can help remind us that community is there. It should feel accessible without compromising on sourcing the best produce from suppliers I believe have an approach to food supply chains that has sustainability at their core. Oh and I did a lot of solo dining in Margate and I was reminded how small plates suck if you're on your own.
With all this in mind I am simplifying the offering to a three course set menu, this next event with be fully vegetarian because there are just so many delicious things on offer right now.
Menu to be confirmed based on availability closer to the time but current musings are:
Watercress, asparagus, radish salad with a soft boiled egg and mustard vinaigrette
Grilled polenta, braised courgettes, wild garlic pesto, westcombe ricotta
Chocolate mousse, hazelnut biscuit
£35 per person
The menu is completely vegetarian and gluten free without the hazelnut biscuit
