✨🔮Creatives Club provides workshops for creatives. Our aim is to nurture creativity and vulnerability, and to foster community.
🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️We are curating a warm, non-judgemental, inclusive space, where queer, neurodivergent, and disabled creatives are particularly welcome.
Make connections with fellow creatives and turn your emotions into your creative superpower.
What kind of creatives is this for?
ANYONE. You’re welcome whether you’ve never created anything, or if you’ve done it loads. This isn’t about experience. It’s about the desire to express yourself, to create, and to connect with others.
What is this workshop about?
This workshop will focus on how to cultivate hope and feel our rage in this complicated, beautiful, maddening world that we live in.
Our agenda for the afternoon:
- Informal socialising with fellow creatives, with optional ice breaker prompts (30mins)
- Official group intros (10mins)
- Open discussion on your experience of creating in today’s world and how it affects you, your state of mind, your creative ambitions (20-30mins)
- Creative prompt as an invitation to translate those feelings in whatever way you'd like: prose, drawing, poem, doodles, mind map, dialogue… (15mins)
- ZINE making, building on the discussion and creative prompt: create a mini zine, and/or a few A5 pages about your experience with hope and rage in this world, to be included in the first Creatives Club collective zine and shared on our platform (if desired). All materials provided. (1h15-1h30mins)
- Crafting a 'creative hope contingency plan' (based on a template with prompts) to get your creativity going and work your projects even when the world gets you down. (15mins)
Being creative in this world isn’t easy. Let's work through it together.
Ethos & Agreements
- You have the talent - we’re here to help you step into your identity as a creative. We want to empower you to learn to harness your emotions and turn them into your superpower
- Rather than a space designed to deliver or receive editorial feedback, this is an event where creatives can get nurturing support and foster their creativity. It’s about trusting your instincts!
- This is an unapologetically inclusive space where we want to cultivate acceptance and vulnerability. We have a zero tolerance policy for any form of discrimination or harassment, including racism, transphobia, homophobia, sexism, ableism or ageism.
- We’re fostering a warm, friendly, relaxed environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing and being vulnerable. Community is built out of mutual care. We want to encourage you to practice active listening, and to be gentle and supportive when discussing the experiences of others.
This is a confidential space. Anything shared by others during our events, whether personal or creative, is private, and should not be shared with anyone else without prior consent.
Future Events
While there are exercises that can allow you to reflect on your own creativity and projects, this isn’t the main focus of this particular Hope & Rage workshop.
In future we hope to organise workshops where creatives can work on/workshop their own projects, as well as more opportunities to create work as part of collective zines shared on the Creatives Club platform.
This is a space FOR YOU, and we want it to evolve to meet your needs, so let us know what you're needing in your creative practice!
Event Organiser
Hi there, my name is Laurie and I'm the founder of Creatives Club. I love empowering creatives to tell stories and have made a career out of it. I have fifteen years of experience in TV drama & comedy development as well as story producing.
I get things done - with curiosity, kindness, and passion.
As a neurodivergent, queer woman with c-ptsd, I feel incredibly strongly about making space for the authenticity of people's lived experiences and emotions. I also run a social called Big Feelings Club, aimed at building community and fostering vulnerability in ENM communities.
Most recently, I have expanded into creative coaching, and working with people with big feelings who are keen to make their project a reality and would like support in bringing their vision to life and to translate those emotions into action.
Our venue - The London Night Cafe
Our events are held at the fabulous London Night Cafe near Liverpool Street. It’s the BEST place to get cosy and inspired.
It’s got soft seating, comfy vibes, fairy lights, and even a mini ball pit. The venue offers free, unlimited caffeinated and decaff hot drinks (teas, coffees, dairy free milk) and complimentary biscuits (inc GF).
Venue accessibility:
- There are two floors in the venue: ground floor and basement.
- There is a low step between the street and ground floor. The toilet is on the ground floor, but not specifically accessible.
- There are steep steps leading to the basement floor.
If you have any questions, please DM me on instagram at @CreativesClubLdn or via email at laurie@bigfeelings.uk.
I can't wait to meet you!
