The Norfolk LGBTQ+ Project is excited for you to join us for our Trans Swim- Pre-Pride Pool Party at the Beccles Lido! This health and wellbeing event is open to trans, non-binary and gender questioning adults- 18+. This one is a party, so we will have music (please add to our Spotify playlist- link in confirmation email!), floaties, garden games, photo opportunities, free soft drinks, snacks and cupcakes!
Come get active, swim, and connect with others in a safe and inclusive environment. Whether you're a seasoned swimmer or just looking to dip your toes in the water, all skill levels are welcome. So grab your swimsuit and towel, and dive in with us at Trans Swim!
We will have private use of the pool for the duration of the event- 7:00-8:30 swimming, with 30 minutes after for getting changed. This means the only people present at the lido, other than lifeguards, will be those attending the event. You can arrive as early as 6:50 to get changed, but be aware that there is a public swim session that ends at 6:50 so there may still be members of the public using the changing rooms at that time.
Parking: The car park at the lido is very small and will fill up quickly. There are other car parks around Beccles that you can use. Please see the parking info and a map of the other car parks here.
Accessibility: There are dedicated disabled parking beyond the lido's access barrier. Please use the intercom for access. The main entrance has a ramp. There is hoist-assisted entry to the water if required and an accessible changing facility (shower and toilet).
Changing Rooms: There are 14 gender neutral individual changing cubicles poolside. These are not accessible. There is one accessible changing room in the male and female toilet block, but for the duration of our event these are gender neutral and you can use the space that you feel most comfortable in.
Toilets and Showers: There is a male and female toilet block (individual cubicles), but for the duration of our event these are gender neutral and you can use the space that you feel most comfortable in. There are three gender neutral, outdoor, communal showers (no cubical or curtain) poolside. There are no private showers.
Swimwear: You are welcome to wear what makes you feel most comfortable, as long as your bottom half is covered. Please ensure that your clothing is safe to swim in- not too baggy or heavy when it is wet.
