Join Queer Poetry Collective for our first ekphrastic poetry workshop, where we will write in response to Debjani Banerjee's exhibition, Jalsaghar.
Meaning 'The Music Room' in Bengali, the exhibition is an immersive, multi-sensory backdrop to examine culture dissonance and perspective.
Her music room considers transformation and draws on the ancient and contemporary musical traditions she grew up with.
It’s shaped by myths and memories, from late-night Tagore songs at family gatherings to the Bauls’ folk songs. Importantly, for Banerjee it also represents a space for cultural expression, collaboration and intimacy.
We'll do live writing and sharing throughout!
Pay what you can, with all proceeds going to Mimosa House.
Capacity: 30 places.
Would love to see you there!

About Mimosa House:
Founded in 2017, Mimosa House is an arts organisation that exists to challenge the lack of
diversity in the arts, in the UK and beyond. Throughout everything it does, it centres the voices
and experiences of women and queer people, with a particular focus on people of colour, and the
intersections between. It is the the only non-commercial visual arts organisation in the UK to do
this. Through raising awareness about issues of inequality and discrimination, and celebrating
diversity, Mimosa House wants to help the public to imagine and create a more equitable society.
