Join us at Standalone in Dalston for an evening of performances and readings .
The event marks the London debut of SMZW, a collaboration between artists Zoë Marden and Sonia Wong, presenting their performance 4eva reaching 4 everythingness. Originally premiered at Eaton HK in 2024, the piece takes the form of a lecture-performance that moves between personal conversation, theoretical research, dance, and digital collage. It explores gender, sexuality, and mythology as everyday and political practices, using poetry, music, and visual material to reflect how we process the world today.
The night will also feature a performance by Fiontasia and readings by invited artists (to be announced), bringing together a range of voices across performance, poetry, and sound.
Time: 7pm-10pm
Location: Standalone, 160 Dalston Lane, London E8 1NG
SMZW
Zoë Marden and Sonia Wong’s collective practice comes from a legacy of feminist and queer theories, community work and activism, rooted in the context of Hong Kong. Their practice is inspired and informed by the complex locality of the city and its postcolonial condition, viewed through the lens of their lived experience as queer people. The duo’s work explores the contradictions and connections between European and Asian mythologies, and where they overlap with their personal histories. Their interests lie within the slippages between the personal, political, and emotional. The artists’ voice is intentionally intimate, emerging from on-going conversations that draw from their own stories as children of mixed origins living between lands, cultures, languages, and bodies.
