We are Homo Promos, the oldest LGBT+ theatre company in the UK, and Gay Authors Workshop, a writers' self-help group since 1978. We have been running courses since March 2024, and have published one book of short stories, ‘Flash Dances’, out of the writings of students and others.
This is a FREE course of five creative writing classes for LGBT+ writers, especially young writers, new writers, blocked writers, unconfident writers and isolated writers. The dates are every Monday August 4th - September 1st, 5.30 - 8pm. This will not be posted after the course starts, and we will not be able to accommodate people wanting to join later. So if interested, BOOK NOW! It is a hybrid event for Zoom and live in person. Because of the way OutSavvy is set up, we have to issue two separate tickets for Zoom and In Person. THIS IS FOR ZOOM ATTENDANCE.
There are many reasons people feel inhibited about writing, and we try to eliminate them. We offer strong support and encouragement in a safe and friendly environment for people who are serious about improving their skills in writing fiction. We focus on short form stories, what are known as flash fiction, though those skills can be useful for people trying to write other things such as plays and novels.
We encourage you with positive feedback and weekly writing exercises. We also offer the possibility of appearing in a new online LGBT+ magazine, and our next anthology, ‘Hot Flashes’.
We are FOR serious students with commitment and a serious desire to improve.
We are FOR people interested in short stories, character, plot and descriptive writing.
We are FOR people motivated by a desire to communicate and to be published. That takes work.
We are NOT for people wanting to use the class to improve their English.
We are NOT for people wanting to use this course to assist asylum claims.
THIS FORM IS FOR ZOOM ATTENDANCE. WE HAVE HAD TECHNICAL PROBLEMS WITH ZOOM IN THE PAST WHICH WE HOPE WE HAVE SOLVED. NEVERTHELESS THE ZOOM EXPERIENCE IS NOT AS INTERACTIVE AS THE LIVE EXPERIENCE, AND IF YOU ARE PHYSICALLY ABLE TO TRAVEL TO CENTRAL LONDON, WE ADVISE YOU TO DO SO.
