Join us and Healthcare Improvement Scotland for a focus group to discuss what you want to see in the new maternity service standards.
What's happening?
Healthcare Improvement Scotland are currently running a consultation as a part of their development of new national service standards for maternity services. They are keen to hear from LGBT+ people about their experiences of using maternity services.
The standards will act as a benchmark for service provision, so we can know what we can expect when we use the services. They provide a national minimum level of what a good service looks like – with the idea being that this makes sure people can be confident of getting person-centred, safe and effective healthcare.
If you have experience of using maternity services in any way we would love to hear your views about how these services can best serve LGBT+ people.
Who is this event for?
This event is for LGB+ people. We are running two focus groups to hear your views about what you want the standards to include. One group will be for LGB+ people and one group will be for trans people.
We've split them up this way as we think it's likely these two groups will have different experiences of maternity services, but you are of course welcome to go to whichever group seems the best fit for what you want to talk about. E.g. if you are trans but feel as though your experience was impacted more by being LGB+, then you might want to attend the LGB+ group (or both!).
Why take part?
We'll be joined by members of the team at Healthcare Improvement Scotland who are developing the standards - so we'll be able to speak to them directly about what we like, what we don't like and what we think is missing. These standards will be used to inform best practice for caring for people using maternity standards, so it's important they hear from us!
Attending the event
This event will be held online via Microsoft Teams. An invite will be sent out ahead of the event. If you have any accessibility requirements, please get in touch with Ryan (ryan@equality-network). If you require a BSL interpreter, please let us know one week in advance.
