The Cinephiles are back with a screening of Little Trouble Girls @ The Arzner, London's first LGBTQ+ cinema!
SYNOPSIS:
The debut feature from Slovenian director Urška Djukić, inspired by the iconic 1995 song Little Trouble Girl by Sonic Youth, is a tender portrayal, sensuously shot and beautifully scored, of the sexual awakening of a young chorister.
Introverted 16-year-old Lucia joins her Catholic school's all-girls choir, where she befriends Ana-Maria, a popular and flirty third-year student. When the choir travels to a countryside convent for a weekend of intensive rehearsals, Lucia’s interest in a dark-eyed restoration worker tests her friendship with Ana-Maria and the other girls. As she navigates unfamiliar surroundings and her budding sexuality, Lucia begins to question her beliefs and values, disrupting the harmony within the choir.
About Muse: The Cinephiles
This is a cinephiles group for lesbian, queer, and trans women predominantly, but is also open to the wider LGBTQIA+ community. We are committed to celebrating our queer community within a co-created ethos of mutual respect and kindness.
Our aim is to provide a queer cinephiles group that stimulates a mix of thoughtful discussion, playfulness, and curiosity. Our screenings will focus predominantly on celebrating queer women – showcasing both celebrated and hidden queer cinema gems, we aim to foster a playful curiosity and build a vibrant, supportive community.
We respectfully request that men (gay or cis) and straight women attend only as guests of our lesbian, queer, and trans women members and that all guests share our ethos of mutual respect and kindness. Any form of hate, discrimination, and/ or transphobia will not be tolerated at any of our events. We believe this approach supports the overall well being of our attendees and helps create an environment where everyone feels safe, celebrated, and respected. If you have any concerns or questions about this requirement, please feel free to reach out, and we'll do our best to address them.
We affirm and celebrate trans and non-binary people as members of our community. We stand against transphobia in all its forms and recognise the challenges trans and non-binary people face.
Please note: PHOTOS AND VIDEOS will be taken at our events. Our photographers will be capturing the vibe at all our events. Some of these will be posted on our social media. Please come and chat to a host if you would prefer not to appear online.
