The New Left Party: Organising from Below in West London
The West London branch of rs21 is convening a meeting for local organisers who want to put their communities at the heart of the new left party.
Recently announced, Your Party is approaching its foundational congress at an ambitious pace. The challenges before it are great: increasingly precarious work, skyrocketing rents, collapsing public services – and a far right willing to blame all of it on migrants, even as the true perpetrators, the rich and the powerful, grow fatter with every passing day. If Your Party is to provide a meaningful answer, it cannot be politics-as-usual. It must find its roots in the local struggles of our communities.
A truly democratic and anti-capitalist party starts with knowing our comrades. We are facilitating this free event open to all as an opportunity to meet other socialists across West London, build links and discuss issues affecting the working class both locally and across the nation, so that we may effectively organise together going forward.

This event will allow for plenty of discussion between attendees (rather than being structured around contributions from ‘top table’ speakers). While rs21 West London are use hosting this initial meeting, our hope and intention is to spark a truly collaborative and open project: not a “proto-branch” competing with other local initiatives, but a complementary space for local organisers who wish to build power from below.
