ATELIER: 3:3:3, a capsule runway show featuring members of the Scottish ballroom community (line up to be announced!)
Curated by: Zulaa x NXA
Produced by ID.Y CIC
Supported by Arika and Tramway
This event is curated and produced by members of the ballroom community, a space birthed by and prioritising Black and racialised femme queens (trans women), trans and queer people. All attendees are expected to show utmost respect for our community and each other.
Content warning:
This event will include haze, flashing lights and some discussion of colonialism.
A note on our venue partner:
This event is created from, by and for the communities we are rooted in, and takes up an offer of space and support from Tramway Glasgow.
In this we want to be transparent and acknowledge the dilemma of working with an established arts organisation not explicitly endorsing the cultural boycott of the Zionist genocidal state of Israel. Tramway sits under the umbrella of Glasgow Life, cultural arm of Glasgow City Council which has financial links to the Zionist state.
We affirm our support for the ongoing Palestinian liberation struggle, and for the interlinked struggles of all peoples occupied and oppressed including in Congo, Sudan, Haiti, Tigray, West Papua. We appreciate Tramway’s programme and building teams in engaging in this conversation with us, and their transparency on their limitations.
Weighing up the potential impact of withdrawing from this partnership, the scale of the infrastructure and the value of this space for our communities; together with our teams and artists we decided to move forward. We will take up this space not built for us, come together, openly discuss the struggles that these contradictions arise from - and what we, together, can continue to do in working towards liberation.
