Hello wonderful humans!
Weekly Whacking classes are back in Glasgow! EVERY TUESDAYS 630 - 730at at Three60 Studios (Studio 4, on the 4th floor). 80 washington street, G3 8AZ.
Punking, later commonly adapted and referred to as Whacking, is a style that emerged in the 1970s underground gay clubs in LA by people of colour. It is distinctive through the attitude/behaviour - punking, posing and striking with force (whacking).
Classes will be focusing on various elements of this, looking at history, into contextualising in different ways - this can be from freestyle exercises to choreography to drills and technique to concepts and structured parameters to allow you to play, deep dive, exchange and develop your own movement.
Sessions are open to all, with variations offered - Come with an open mind, each week will be different, and a variety of teachers will also be sharing during January and February. Following this, a more bespoke 4 week programme will begin in March.
Throughout the year there will also be opportunities including: performance, assisting, creating, collaborating so stay tuned!
